Raznochinovsky orphanage houses about 250 children, ages 4 to 18. These children suffer from mental retardation and/or cerebral palsy. Many of them are unable to walk or even to sit up. They are prisoners of their beds; most of them had never even seen themselves in the mirror.

There are no developmental or rehabilitation programs available to them. They do not attend schools and do not have any social activities.

The orphanage is located far away from the major city and it is very hard to get medical professionals from the city to come and treat the children at the orphanage.

Because of the lack of immediate medical care, kids die in their beds, in front of other children. Frequent cause of death is sepsis due to bed sores.
